For many years I tried to get into audiobooks, but I could never get far into one. The voices just never seemed to connect with the words for me. They lacked the passion and emotion that was intended for the portrayal of the scenes they were reading. But then again, those books were for the masses. They weren’t for us. And it took me hearing one of my favorite books being narrated by someone that sounded like me to completely tune in. Someone who brought life to the characters the same way I do in my head to open me up to the world of audiobooks. I didn’t know that there were so many of our books out there for my listening pleasure. But I do now. Shout-out to Wesleigh Siobhan and her narration on Wins & Losses by Alexandra Warren for inspiring this list and my new obsession.

It started with a trip to a rooftop bar. Actually, it all started with a command from my boss. So, I was the one sent out East to meet with leadership at our parent company.
